Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939)
Alfons Maria Mucha, international auch als Alphonse Mucha (1860–1939) bekannt, war ein tschechischer Grafiker, Maler und Illustrator. Er lebte während der Jugendstil-Epoche in Paris und ist vor allem für seine auffällig stilisierten und dekorativen Theaterplakate bekannt, beispielsweise für die von Sarah Bernhardt, der damals berühmtesten Schauspielerin in Paris. Mucha schuf Gemälde, Werbeanzeigen, Buchillustrationen sowie Entwürfe für Teppiche, Schmuck und Bühnenbilder im sogenannten Mucha-Stil. Seine Werke zeigten schöne junge Frauen in neoklassizistischen Gewändern, umgeben von Blumen, die Heiligenscheine bildeten.
